Ashleigh is a health coach, podcast host, and author with more than ten years of experience.

She is a former nationally ranked natural figure competitor, and has competed in powerlifting and CrossFit.

She holds a CrossFit Strongman Certification, CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification, Primal Blueprint Coaching Certification, Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification, and a Certification in Applied Women’s Physiology and Training, and is one of the leading authorities in understanding the nutrient density of animal protein – her first book, It Takes Guts, is all about the health benefits of organ meats. Her latest cookbook is called Carnivore-ish.

She’s developed a range of coaching programs and workshops aimed at improving physical strength, overall wellness, and a deeper understanding of our bodies and optimal health, including her Jacked Back pull-up program, Muscle Science for Women, and the Strength Training for Women Specialist Certification for coaches.

Here are some of the things we talked about in today’s podcast:

·      Why we need to avoid restrictive diets, chronic cardio, and overtraining to maintain hormonal balance and optimal health.

·      Focusing on minimum effective dose and efficient training to achieve desired results without punishing the body.

·      The cultural pressure for women to be small and compact can create barriers to eating more meat and protein-rich foods.

·      The marketing and messaging around food often promote low-calorie, plant-based options as healthy, but these may not be nutritionally well-rounded or satiating.

·      And much more.

Josh is a Holistic Nutritionist, specialising in Crohn’s and Colitis, and other related gut issues.

After reversing over 250 cases of Crohn’s and colitis (previously thought to be impossible to fix), he’s been connected to some of the world’s most renowned doctors.

He’s since been recruited to the Priority Health Academy as a medical lecturer, helping educate doctors on the holistic approach to gut health, and inflammatory bowel disease; and has launched a top 2.5%  globally ranked podcast. ReversABLE: The Ultimate Gut Health Podcast and is available everywhere podcasts are found

Here are some of the things we talked about in today’s podcast:

  • IBS and IBD (Crohn's and colitis) are on a spectrum of severity and have similar symptoms.

  • The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in detoxification, hormonal balance, immune regulation, digestion, and nutrient production.

  • Toxins, microbial imbalances, and diet/nutrient deficiencies are the main reasons for developing IBD.

  • The modern diet and exposure to toxins disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome. Addressing the root causes of gut issues is crucial for reversing bowel disease and improving gut health.

  • Toxins, inflammation, and nutrient deficiencies contribute to gut imbalances and should be addressed.

  • The gut is connected to various diseases and conditions, and addressing gut health can have a positive impact on overall health.

  • The five steps to reverse bowel disease are drainage, removing the problem, replenishing nutrients, rebuilding the microbiome, and rejuvenating the immune system.

  • Gut issues can be reversed, and there is hope for those struggling with bowel diseases.
